Crowd: [whoops]

MacPhisto: [inhales admiringly] "Ohh. Very revealing!"

Crowd: [cheer]

MacPhisto: "Ooh. Age can bring..." [points to lesion on his cheek] "...a-- a spot of bother! Haha. Is there a dermatologist in the house? [inaudible] My name... is MacPhisto."

Crowd: [cheers and applause]

MacPhisto: "I'm having... somewhat of a comeback." [sniggers]

Crowd: [whoops]

MacPhisto: "What with people spying on themselves, with their own telephones." [sniggers] "And warming up the Cold War in a microwave!" [evil chuckle] "LUNATICS... on the left AND right! And lunatics... from a whole other category. Warehousing children! Ha ha ha. But then again, I do love the sound of that. Putting children in cages – very Hansel and Gretel, no?" [sniggers]

Crowd: [whoops]

MacPhisto: "Excuse me... Boston. One thing you should know: it's when you don't believe that I exist – that's when I do my best work."

MacPhisto: "The name's... MacPhisto, actually."

Crowd: [cheer]

MacPhisto: "Though I sometimes dress up as Mick Jagger."

Crowd: [laughter and applause]

rappresentano adamatini colpi di genio!

 

Entrambi si riagganciano al tema che stavamo sviscerando qualche giorno fa: il potere soverchiante dei social e delle nuove tecnologie. Nella fattispecie, poi, viene aggiunto un tassello al già onusto mosaico: quello delle verità artate veicolate da tali piattaforme, idonee a generare un'accesa conflittualità fondata, in concreto, su parole effimere e fallaci.

Una riproposizione, a mio avviso, del celeberrimo "BeLIEve".

Il linea teorica non farebbe una grinza.

Peccato, però, che il MacPhisto odierno e quello in auge negli anni '90 palesino assonanze piuttosto fioche.

Talvolta hanno in comune il nome e poco altro.

Vedere per credere.

Sì, perché sarebbe stato decontestualizzato ed inconferente rispetto alle finalità del tour.

Il tema centrale è l'esperienza. Che si dipana nel corso della scaletta al fine di rendere ostensivo il trapasso dall'innocenza.

Insomma, come ha inciso l'esperienza sul diabolico alter ego di Bono?

Il MacPhisto maturo è la risposta.

Se ti leggi tutti i discorsi che sere sere ha postato in prima pagina, potrai appurarlo tu stesso.

Ma questo MacPhisto maturo non ha più nulla in comune con quello vecchio: "Talvolta hanno in comune il nome e poco altro" (parole tue).
Allora mi chiedo: questo tema dell'esperienza non poteva essere espresso da un altro alter ego? Che bisogno c'era di far riferimento ad un personaggio di altra epoca, altro tour (contestualizzato in modo completamente diverso peraltro)?
Non ci poteva stare un altro alter ego di Bono, che lo rappresenti oggi, più invecchiato, ma lasciando da parte i riferimenti al passato?
Il riferimento a MacPhisto a mio modo di vedere risulta doppiamente fuorviante: da un lato per i vecchi fans, che si ritrovano di fronte un personaggio che ha ben poco a che fare con quello originale, dall'altro per i nuovi fans, che potrebbero farsi un'idea sbagliata di come fosse il "vero" MacPhisto.

Però creando un nuovo personaggio per svolgere il ruolo dell'attuale macphisto si rischiava comunque di finire per ricordare il vecchio macphisto.
Secondo me ha molto senso il discorso fatto da Illusion qui sopra.
