Riguardo a MacPhisto 2018... è diverso da quello degli anni '90 e credo proprio volutamente.
In questa discussione ne abbiamo parlato diverse pagine addietro.
Penso che questo sia anche un altro aspetto voluto dal suo ideatore (Bono), ovvero quello di svelare un lato veramente cattivo, sicuramente più "dark" rispetto a quello dello ZooTV quando era, in confronto ad ora, un giovane diavolo, un giovincello!

Lo si evince anche da quest'articolo di U2.com, che tratta della genesi del "nuovo" MacPhisto:

Vogliamo usare l'aggettivo "brutto"?
Penso che Bono lo abbia voluto rendere proprio così, per accentuare il lato malvagio, l'esperienza di un diavolo... e quest'aspetto più diabolico credo sia evidente non solo esteticamente, soprattutto alla luce degli ultimi discorsi...

Sicuramente hai ragione sere, un po' hanno voluto fare un diavolo ´esperto´, tanto per rimanere in tema, proprio quasi a dire che non c'è scampo e niente di bello in lui, mentre del primo mc phisto ti ci puoi innamorare (e lo fai),un po' scusate la brutalità ma si basano molto anche su chi gli costruisce lo show (ad es bono ha detto che pagano persone per scrivere frasi sullo schermo e quindi forse anche per il discorso di mc phisto ha un aiuto),e se metti queste cose in mano a giovani tecnologici smanettoni di sicuro non ci vanno leggero.. no la maglia non l'ho vista dal vivo perché sono stata solo a Berlino dove non c'era, ma vedrai che sw ti piace la trovi anche a Milano

Pur non avendo "vissuto" personalmente la Zoo Era per motivi anagrafici, non metto assolutamente in discussione il MacPhisto degli anni '90, ci mancherebbe!
Anche allora era comunque "seguito" da Willie Williams:

Oggi sicuramente si avvale dell'aiuto di Willie, di Gavin (Friday) come allora...
Il giovane smanettone Marc Wakefield si è occupato del "filtro" MacPhisto (come nell'articolo sopra...) per sviluppare l'aspetto terrificante del diavolo, che appare sicuramente più spietato di quello della versione dello ZooTV.
Per quanto riguarda i discorsi però credo siano farina del suo sacco, anche pensando alle qualità di Bono come Artista: basta pensare semplicemente ai testi delle canzoni...

Mi è saltato all'occhio un particolare, ovvero:

Ho avuto come una sensazione di déjà-vu... Per forza: è un concetto che proprio MacPhisto aveva già espresso in una delle date della leg americana! Io mi sono divertita a ricercare la data in questione.

Comunque, a vedere la foto all'inizio dell'articolo sul filtro per macphisto (molto interessante per me) sembra che inizialmente la faccia del nuovo macphisto fosse molto più simile a quella dello zootv e che sia stata via via imbruttita
